The Eagle - berita terkini terus di komputer anda.

Anda tentu pernah terjumpa logo seperti ini sewaktu anda melayari laman-laman sesawang (website) di Internet kan? Tapi tahukah anda apa maksud logo dan apakah fungsinya? Jika tidak tahu dan ingin tahu, sila baca lebih lanjut...

Logo-logo tersebut membawa maksud "RSS" atau "Really Simple Syndication" yang digunakan bagi memaklumkan berita atau kandungan terkini seperti catatan blog terbaru, tajuk berita mutakhir, kandungan website atau podcasts. Ianya seperti "Berita Terkini TV3" versi Internet ;)= tapi tanpa pembaca beritanya. Anda perlukan perisian (software) khusus untuk mendapatkan berita terkini melalui RSS yang dikenali sebagai "pembaca RSS", "pembaca penyuap (feed reader)" atau "aggregator". Anda boleh temui banyak versi "feed reader" di Internet dan "The Eagle" adalah salah satu darinya.

Pada asasnya, The Eagle digunakan untuk mendapatkan berita-berita dan perkembangan terkini mengenai "English Premier League" atau EPL. Anda boleh memilih untuk mengekalkan "feed" untuk EPL atau tidak - terpulang kepada anda. The Eagle adalah percuma, mudah dan mempunyai "interface" yang agak menarik. Saya akan menceritakan fungsi-fungsi setiap komponen yang terdapat dalam perisian ini selepas ini.

The Eagle mempunyai tiga (3) komponen utama iaitu Alert, Feed (message) Browser dan News Ticker.

1) Alert

Alert akan muncul di skrin komputer anda (berserta bunyi yang unik) jika terdapat berita-berita terkini dari sumber RSS yang anda telah tetapkan. Ia akan memaparkan sedutan berita terkini tersebut, dan anda boleh menekan (click) kepada berita tersebut untuk berita lengkap dari sumber RSS itu. Anda juga boleh menekan butang "Full Story". Alert akan hilang sendiri selepas beberapa detik atau anda boleh menekan butang "X".


2) Feed (message) Browser

Feed (message) Browser memaparkan berita-berita terkini dari sumber RSS yang anda telah tetapkan dalam satu tetingkap (window).




3) Ticker
Ticker bertindak seperti "news scoller" di komputer anda. Anda boleh mengubah kedudukan Ticker di skrin anda mengikut kemahuan anda sama ada di tepi, di atas atau di bahagian bawah (seperti gambar di bawah).

Ticker mempunyai 4 pilihan iaitu:
 "Type" - feed muncul seperti di taip dengan mesin taip (typewriter)
 "Fade" - feed muncul dan  hilang (kabur)
 "Horizontal" - feed bergerak dari kiri ke kanan (scroll)
"Vertical" -  feed bergerak dari bawah ke atas

Pilihan untuk The Eagle boleh didapati dengan klik kanan (right click) ikon The Eagle di taskbar (di tepi jam).

Klik "Options" untuk lebih pilihan.

Anda boleh menetapkan sumber RSS anda di sini (tekan tab "My Feeds"). Anda juga boleh menetapkan feed itu dipaparkan di Ticker atau Alert atau kedua-duanya sekali.

HOW TO USE ninja PENDISK?

After you've download the software, a software named ninja.exe (with the green ninja icon) is saved on your hard disk. Now, every time you want to insert ANY USB device into your PC, click first the ninja, and only then insert the USB device. You can create a shortcut for this software on your desktop for easy access or you can add this program to load at the startup.

HOW TO LOAD ninja AT STARTUP?

By loading ninja at the startup of your PC, you can avoid forgetting to click the ninja BEFORE inserting the USB device. As an extra bonus, it will protect your PC should anyone other than yourself use USB on your PC. Even better, avoiding you from having to constantly remind (yelling) anyone and everyone before using your PC to click on ninja first ;)= Here's how:

Click on the START button, then ALL PROGRAMS, then right-click on STARTUP, then click on OPEN ALL USERS (see picture below).

A folder will appear and you can now drag the ninja into it or create a shortcut of this software from your hard disk.

DONE !!!

WHAT ninja DOES???
If you have it started at every startup like mentioned above it will scan any USB drive being inserted to your PC. It will then create an empty, hidden folder named "autorun.inf" which will delete any nasty autorun in the USB drive. You then have to open the drive manually by going to My Computer.
